Museum

The museum features many artefacts from the original Alnwick branch line and beyond.

There are information boards telling the story of the line from Alnmouth to Alnwick, and, to keep the little ones occupied while you’re browsing the museum, there is a wooden trainset for them to play with.

Like all structures at Lionheart Station, the museum building is of modern construction. It is loosely based on the style of one of the station buildings at Goathland on the North York Moors Railway and is typical of the design of North Eastern Railway buildings at rural stations.

The building has been funded by a generous bequest from the late Gordon Simpson. It has, in the main, been constructed and fitted out by our wonderful and hard working volunteers.
