Rail

The nearest main line railway station is Alnmouth for Alnwick, which is regularly served by trains from Edinburgh, Newcastle and beyond.

Service providers include LNER, CrossCountry, Northern and TransPennine Express.

The Aln Valley Railway is still about a mile away from its goal of reaching Alnmouth, so to get there you need to catch a bus or a taxi.

It is not possible to walk along the old trackbed to Greenrigg Halt from Alnmouth Station.

Bus

The following buses stop at the entrance to the Lionheart Enterprise Park – from there it is only a short walk to the Lionheart site – please remember to advise the driver where you’re getting off:

Alternatively, use Traveline North East and Cumbria or Bustimes.org to plan your journey.

Cycle / Walk

The National Cycle Route No1 passes near to Alnmouth Station. One of our aims is to provide access from there into Alnwick.

Until then, you can travel up Bilton Bank from Alnmouth Station and turn right at Bilton Farm to Greenrigg Bridge.

There you can either jump onto our trains to Lionheart or you can use the footpath / cycleway that runs alongside the line.

It is not possible to walk or cycle along the old trackbed to Greenrigg Halt from Alnmouth Station.

Alnwick town centre can be accessed using a combination of designated paths, lanes and the road.

Cycling and walking along the A1068 road from Lesbury to Alnwick is not recommended as it is hilly, twisty, narrow in places, has no paths and has fast moving traffic.
